In this episode, we have a fantastic interview with Annie Spiritos of the Rusty Quarters Arcade. Annie and her husband are living the collector’s dream by opening a retro arcade and turning their hobby into a money-making business! Also in this episode we discuss our love of the oft-neglected electromechanical pinball machine. Listen along as Preston and Patrick talk about recent gameroom stories, acquisitions, and anectdotes as well as how the hobbyist community has pulled together to help one of their own. Be sure to listen for your chance to win a set of AC/DC pint glasses to booze it up next to your new Stern pinball.
The co-host of the Gameroom Junkies Podcast, Preston is a writer and designer living outside Atlanta, GA. He has an affinity for VHS tapes, and an obsession with arcade games and pinball machines. He is a contributing writer for GeekDad, Paste and RETRO Magazines, and a founder of the Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo.
Highlight of my day!
Thank you for the kind words. I’m doing ok health wise for now. The treatment I’m on is called Yervoy and has quite an array of side effects. Though I’ve been in the hospital for some fevers and have had to slow down a little, I remain hopeful that the treatment will extend my life a little longer. ACAM is going to bring some games from my donated collection to Pax-East so lots of people will get to enjoy them when they come visit us in April. For those that are going to CAX I’ll be there to say hello both days and talk games.
Glad to hear it, Scott! I can’t wait to see all the pics you take at CAX! Have fun!!!
I look forward to the show every month. Thank you for taking time to create it.
Scott, I hope you can enjoy your trip to CAX. If it ever comes time for me to deal with an illness, I hope to be as brave as you seem to be.
